Role Overview
As the IT Manager at Softway, you will lead our Software Development and Infrastructure teams to deliver scalable, secure, and innovative technology solutions. You’ll be responsible for defining our IT strategy, driving architectural decisions, and ensuring the successful development and deployment of our core banking and remittance platforms. This role is critical in supporting our growth in the fintech space and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1 Strategic Leadership
• Define and execute the IT strategy in alignment with business and product goals.
• Lead the engineering roadmap for core banking and remittance platforms.
2 Team Management
• Manage cross-functional teams across Software Development and Infrastructure/DevOps.
• Ensure efficient team workflows and interdepartmental collaboration.
3 Architecture & Engineering
• Drive technical architecture and system design for scalability and resilience.
• Design cloud-native infrastructure leveraging AWS, Azure, or GCP.
4 Product Delivery
• Oversee full SDLC of digital banking and remittance solutions.
• Manage releases, CI/CD pipelines, QA, and version control.
5 Compliance & Security
• Ensure platforms comply with PCI-DSS, AML/KYC, and data protection standards (e.g., GDPR).
• Implement secure coding and deployment practices.
6 Cross-functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Product, Compliance, and Operations teams.
• Evaluate and integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and core banking tools.
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years in software/IT roles, with 5+ years managing technical teams.
• Proven experience delivering scalable production-level systems in fintech or financial services.
• Strong backend, API, and database architecture knowledge.
• Deep understanding of microservices and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Familiarity with security and regulatory requirements (PCI-DSS, AML/KYC, GDPR).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in remittance, digital banking, or fintech platforms.
• Understanding of East African financial ecosystems or diaspora finance.
• Background in startups or high-growth environments.
