About the job
The Health Care Specialist is responsible for providing medical support to GBV survivors, ensuring that they receive timely, survivor-centered, and quality healthcare services. The role includes training healthcare providers on GBV response, strengthening referral pathways, and ensuring compliance with clinical standards for handling cases of sexual violence, exploitation, and abuse within the World Bank-funded Somalia Education for Human Capital Development Project (SEHCD). This includes Banadir region, Southwest State, Hirshabelle State, Galmudug State, Puntland, and Jubaland State.
This role is contingent upon the successful securing of funding for the project.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that GBV survivors receive immediate and adequate medical attention in accordance with national health protocols.
- Train healthcare providers on GBV response protocols in medical settings.
- Establish referral mechanisms for medical services, ensuring coordinated care for survivors.
- Support the project’s monitoring and evaluation (M&E) efforts related to health outcomes in GBV response.
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have: –
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in providing healthcare services to GBV survivors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Medicine, Public Health, or Clinical Medicine
- Experience in public health or clinical settings with GBV response expertise.
- Knowledge of Somalia’s healthcare policies and medical protocols for GBV survivors.

Contract length: 12 months subject to funding.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for employees on national contract.
