Job Description

The Vector Control Specialist, Senior I is responsible for supervising vector control operations within the designated Area of Responsibility (AOR). This role involves implementing and managing an effective Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program to minimize the risk of injury and disease from pest-borne vectors. By applying principles of preventative medicine and health promotion, the specialist ensures the health and wellness of site personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all assigned aspects of the IPM program and vector control operations.
• Conduct continuous evaluations of site conditions, including buildings, supplies, and surrounding terrain, to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Collaborate with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) team members to support preventative medicine and health promotion campaigns.
• Provide training and education to site personnel on hazard identification, risk avoidance, and preventative measures.
• Document and communicate identified hazards, potential health consequences, and mitigation strategies.
• Offer consultation to site management regarding facility design and operational improvements.
• Coordinate with veterinary site representatives and Department of Defense (DoD) personnel on the humane trapping and transport of feral animals, as well as pesticide and herbicide application.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and application of hazardous materials in accordance with company and site guidelines.
• Promote and monitor best practices in sanitation, housekeeping, pest exclusion, and personal protection measures.
• Supervise and ensure the safety of subordinate personnel, providing necessary training and guidance to ensure compliance with client and company standards.
• Report project status, challenges, and requirements to management and other functional leaders.

Supervision

• May supervise employees or subcontractors as directed by management, in accordance with the company’s General Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities.

Work Environment

• The role may involve working in various environments, from conventional office settings to challenging project sites with harsh conditions.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English at an intermediate level is required for safety and effective communication.
• Physical capability to perform job tasks is essential.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• 4 to 7 years of related experience.
• Possession of a U.S. Commercial License or DoD Certification in Core Phase and Categories 6, 7, and 8 or an equivalent U.S. commercial license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Military and/or Contingency Operations experience is preferred.
