Job Summary 
As the Head of Marketing and Business Development, you will be responsible for driving the growth and promotion of Tawakal Express’ remittance business. This role requires you to work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and capitalize on business opportunities, foster strategic partnerships, and enhance the customer experience within the competitive remittance sector. You will lead the development of marketing strategies, negotiate key partnerships, and guide the company’s growth initiatives to maintain Tawakal Express’ position as a leader in the remittance industry.
Key Responsibilities
1 Strategic Marketing Leadership
• Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to increase remittance volumes, improve market positioning, and expand Tawakal Express’ brand visibility both locally and internationally.
• Lead the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns using digital channels, traditional advertising, and public relations to promote Tawakal Express’ services.
• Enhance brand presence across all communication channels, ensuring alignment with company objectives and resonance with target customers.
• Drive customer acquisition strategies, focusing on building long-term brand loyalty and optimizing customer lifetime value.
2 Business Development & Partnership Growth
• Identify, establish, and nurture strategic partnerships with financial institutions, remittance partners, agents, and other stakeholders to expand Tawakal Express’ global footprint.
• Manage existing partner relationships to ensure alignment with business objectives, optimize service offerings, and drive mutual growth.
• Seek out new business opportunities, including strategic alliances and joint ventures, to further extend Tawakal Express’ market reach.
• Develop and execute partnership marketing strategies that increase engagement, revenue, and customer loyalty.
3 Performance Reporting and Data Analysis
• Track, analyze, and report on KPIs related to marketing campaigns, sales volumes, and business growth, evaluating the effectiveness of marketing strategies and tactics.
• Prepare in-depth reports on market trends, campaign performance, and business outcomes, providing actionable insights to inform strategic decisions.
• Collaborate with the finance and operation team to monitor sales growth and ensure alignment with P&L objectives.
4 Customer Experience & Market Insights
• Oversee the customer journey, ensuring that marketing and business development efforts are aligned with customer expectations and evolving industry trends.
• Conduct market research and analyze customer feedback to uncover new opportunities, refine product offerings, and optimize marketing approaches.
• Maintain a customer-first mindset across all marketing efforts and touchpoints, aiming to boost satisfaction and retention.
5 Agency & Vendor Management
• Manage relationships with external agencies and vendors, ensuring efficient execution of marketing strategies and consistency in deliverables.
• Lead the briefing and review process with creative agencies, ensuring that marketing campaigns align with Tawakal’s brand values and goals.
• Oversee media buying to ensure optimal budget allocation and cost-effectiveness across channels.
6 Brand & Reputation Management
• Safeguard and elevate Tawakal Express’ brand reputation by ensuring consistency and high standards across all marketing touchpoints.
• Lead corporate communications and public relations initiatives to enhance the company’s visibility and manage media relations.
• Foster a strong brand identity that reflects Tawakal Express’ values of reliability, security, and commitment to customer service.
7 Team Leadership and Development
• Lead, mentor, and inspire the marketing and business development teams, setting clear performance goals and providing feedback to support their success.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and customer support, to ensure smooth and effective execution of business initiatives.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation and excellence, encouraging the team to explore new marketing strategies and business development approaches.
Skills & Qualifications
· Must-Have
• 7+ years of experience in marketing, business development, or sales within the remittance, forex, or financial services sectors.
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Master’s degree (MBA) or equivalent in a relevant field is a plus.
• Proven track record in developing and executing strategies to increase remittance volumes and improve market positioning.
• Strong negotiation skills with experience securing and managing strategic partnerships and external relationships.
• Expertise in digital marketing, including social media, SEO, paid advertising, and content creation.
• Data-driven with the ability to analyze market trends, performance metrics, and customer insights to guide decision-making.
• Excellent leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive business growth.
· Preferred
• Knowledge of key remittance corridors, particularly in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
• Familiarity with cross-border payments, remittance products, and forex services.
• Strong understanding of mobile money, digital payments, and fintech-driven remittance solutions.
• Experience managing marketing budgets and achieving revenue goals.
• Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to travel to the EU, USA, Canada, and Africa as required for business development, partnerships, and market research.
