- Purpose of the position
The Curriculum Officer is responsible for the planning, development, review, and implementation of curricula to ensure high-quality, inclusive, and relevant educational programs in Hirshabelle Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The role ensures curricula align with national education standards, policy priorities, and evolving societal and educational needs.
- Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, development, and periodic review of curriculum content, instructional materials, and assessment tools across various subjects and grade levels.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure curriculum relevance and alignment with learning outcomes in Hirshabelle ministry of Education and higher Education.
- Conduct research on best practices in curriculum development and integrate findings into curriculum design.
- Ensure curricula are inclusive, gender-sensitive, culturally appropriate, and responsive to diverse learning needs.
- Monitor the implementation of curricula and provide technical support to schools, education officers, and teachers.
- Organize and facilitate training workshops for educators on new or revised curricula.
- Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of implemented curricula and recommend improvements.
- Participate in the development and review of national education policies and frameworks where applicable.
- Develop and maintain curriculum guides, teacher manuals, and other instructional resources.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of curriculum development processes.
- Liaise with examination and assessment bodies to ensure alignment of curriculum and assessments.
- contributing effectively in educational programmes, both during and after school hours;
- Providing advice, input, support and monitoring in connection with curriculum development, management, e-Learning and quality assurance development, management and implementation at Directorate, College, school and other educational institution level, in both the State and non-State school sector;
- Advising, supporting and monitoring educational programmes in schools and Colleges;
- Integrating the gender perspective in programmes and initiatives of the Directorates;
- Collecting and maintaining relevant data and statistics;
- Participating in the monitoring of the implementation and evaluation of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), and regularly contribute to its relevant review;
- Participating in curriculum policy for schools and Colleges in line with the NCF, including the development and monitoring of learning outcomes, syllabi and the provision of appropriate curricula, text books and other resource material;
- Evaluating and reporting on the work of teachers and on the progress of the teaching of the subject/area in schools;
- Evaluating and ensuring the quality and standards of teaching and learning in schools and Colleges;
- Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum Studies, or a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in curriculum development or educational planning.
- Knowledge of curriculum design models, instructional design, and pedagogy.
- Familiarity with national education policies, standards, and assessment frameworks.
- Experience in teacher training and education quality assurance is an asset.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and educational software/tools.
