  1. Background
    GREDO Relief and Development Organization (GREDO) is a local non-profit, non-governmental humanitarian and development organization with its headquarter in Baidoa and has sub-offices across southern states in Somalia. GREDO focuses on aspects of emergency, humanitarian responses, and development/resilience programs. GREDO, committed to serving communities affected by crises.
    GREDO continues to expand its programming and strategic partnerships across humanitarian and development sectors in Somalia. In this growth, the role of strategic communications, advocacy, donor visibility, and documentation of success stories has become increasingly vital. However, a capacity gap exists within program teams at both senior management and field levels in effectively integrating these components into their work. To address this, GREDO seeks to conduct a comprehensive 4-day training that builds knowledge and skills across all levels of program staff in communications, advocacy, fundraising, and effective storytelling through content gathering and success story writing.
  2. Objective of the Training
    The objective of this assignment is to engage a qualified and experienced consultant/facilitator to design and deliver a comprehensive 4-day capacity building training for GREDO program staff including senior management, coordinators, officers, on key themes of communications, advocacy, donor visibility, fundraising, program development, content gathering, and storytelling.
    The training aims to:
    • Strengthen the knowledge and practical skills of GREDO staff in integrating strategic communications and advocacy into project design and implementation.
    • Enhance staff capacity to meet donor visibility requirements and promote the organization’s impact through high-quality success stories and case studies.
    • Improve collaboration and coordination between field teams and the Communications and Advocacy Department.
    • Equip staff with tools and techniques to support fundraising, proposal development, and organizational visibility efforts.
  3. Scope of Work
    The selected Trainer/Facilitator will:
    • Design and deliver a 4-day training curriculum combining theory, practical exercises, group work, and real-world examples.
    • Provide training to approximately 25 participants, including SMT, Program Managers, Coordinators, Officers, and Assistants.
    • Develop and share training materials (slides, handouts, tools).
    • Facilitate sessions in both Somali and English as necessary.
    • Include interactive sessions for group discussion, mock proposal design, storytelling exercises, and donor visibility analysis.
    • Prepare a final training report including a summary of sessions, participant feedback, and recommendations for follow-up support.

  14. Required Qualifications of the Consultant/Facilitator
    Educational Background
    • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, International Development, Public Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field.
    • Master’s degree is an added advantage.
    Professional Experience
    • Proven experience in NGO communications, advocacy, and fundraising training
    • Strong knowledge of donor visibility, content collection, and storytelling
    • Familiarity with Somali humanitarian context preferred
    • Fluency in Somali and English
    • Excellent facilitation, communication, and reporting skills
