SIMAD University was established in 1999 in Mogadishu, Somalia, initially known as the Somali Institute of Management and Administration Development (SIMAD). It began as a training center offering short-term courses and diploma programs in management, administration, and computer science to address the need for skilled professionals during the country’s post-conflict reconstruction period.
Over time, the institution expanded its academic offerings in response to the growing demand for higher education. In 2011, SIMAD was officially upgraded to SIMAD University, gaining full university status. This transition allowed it to offer bachelor’s degree programs across various fields, including business administration, economics, computer science, information technology, and social sciences.
The university has continued to grow, introducing postgraduate programs and enhancing its research capabilities. It has invested in modern facilities and technology to provide a conducive learning environment. SIMAD University is accredited by Somalia’s Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education and has formed partnerships with international universities and organizations to promote academic exchange and collaboration.
Today, SIMAD University is recognized as one of Somalia’s leading higher education institutions, known for its focus on practical skills, quality education, and contributions to the nation’s development by preparing graduates for significant roles in both the public and private sectors.
