Shuraako Capital connects Somali region entrepreneurs to impact capital with aim to foster economic growth, create jobs, and promote stability and peace.
The First and Only Provider of Sharia-Compliant Growth Capital to Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in the Horn of Africa.
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) make up 90% of businesses globally and generate the majority of jobs. Yet in fragile and conflict-affected settings, they face major barriers to accessing capital and capacity-building support needed to scale.
Shuraako Capital exists to change that. Our mission is to build a robust support ecosystem for SMEs in fragile and conflict-affected settings through long-term Sharia-compliant growth capital combined with hands on technical assistance. Shuraako means “partnership” in the Somali language, reflecting the way we partner with entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, development partners to leverage private capital to close the SDG financing gap, and impact-focused investors to channel capital into some of the world’s most challenging markets.
Launched in 2013 as a program of the One Earth Future Foundation, we have deep roots in the Somalia Region, where we’ve supported over 200 entrepreneurs to create jobs, expand financial inclusion, and advance climate resilience.
