Role Summary

The Finance Manager – Kenya will play a critical leadership role in overseeing all financial operations across Tawakal Kenya operations, ensuring sound financial governance, and strategic financial planning. The role will support growth initiatives, manage risks, and lead financial reporting and budgeting activities in alignment with Tawakal policies and international accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

1 Financial Reporting & Compliance

• Ensure accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with IFRS.

• Manage general ledger, reconciliations, financial close processes, and statutory filings.

• Prepare internal management reports and financial performance dashboards for decision-making.

2 Budgeting & Strategic Planning

• Lead the annual budgeting process for Kenya operations in collaboration with department heads.

3 Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure full compliance with Kenyan financial regulations, KRA tax submissions, and CBK remittance regulations.

• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in financial laws and standards affecting Tawakal operations.

4 Cash Flow & Treasury Management

• Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds to meet operational and remittance obligations.

• Manage relationships with local banks and financial institutions for optimal service and cost efficiency.

• Monitor FX exposure and collaborate with Tawakal Treasury for hedging and exchange management.

5 Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, mentor, and develop the Kenya finance team for high performance and succession readiness.

• Provide financial guidance to the Country Director and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field (Master’s or MBA is a plus).

• CPA(K), ACCA, or equivalent professional certification is mandatory.

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

• Proven experience in the remittance, fintech, banking, or financial services sector preferred.

• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Kenyan tax regulations, and Central Bank guidelines.

• Proficiency in accounting systems, Excel, and financial modeling.

• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
