Job Description

As a Food Service Manager II, you will strategically manage food service operations within LOGCAP guidelines, supervise a diverse team, ensure compliance with military regulations, and deliver high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals to support mission readiness. You will be responsible for the overall execution, client satisfaction, and financial performance of assigned operations. This includes managing ongoing operational effectiveness, coordinating with various groups and personnel, and directing operational planning to ensure the availability of skilled personnel and resources. You’ll provide oversight for the safe and clean preparation of meals, offer culinary instruction, manage inventory and ordering, and ensure adherence to approved menu plans. Maintaining effective training programs for all supervised personnel and assuring the quality and quantity of food preparation and delivery are also key aspects of this role.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and direction to Supervisors, Chefs, Food Service Leads, Cooks, and all Food Service Workers.
• Plan, organize, and manage all aspects of Food Services.
• Provide oversight and instruction for multiple Dining Facility operations.
• Ensure resources are applied to achieve the highest standards of service to the customer’s specifications.
• Monitor standards and complete relevant documentation.
• Implement comprehensive training programs for all food service personnel.
• Ensure strict compliance with company and customer health and safety regulations, including Military (Tri-Service Food Code/TB Med 530) regulations.
• Plan and oversee the execution of special functions.
• Recruit, train, and manage food service employees.
• Schedule employee work hours to ensure adequate shift coverage.
• Ensure customers are served quality food in a timely manner.
• Regularly inspect all work areas to ensure compliance with food health and safety regulations.
• Manage inventory of food supplies and other consumables, and order necessary supplies as needed.
• Verify food orders are submitted in a timely manner and deliveries are received to quality standards.
• Accurately tally and maintain consumable orders when necessary.
• Review menus to ensure CONOP requirements are met.
• Arrange cleaning and maintenance services, including trash removal, pest control, deep cleaning, and equipment maintenance, as needed.
• Operate and provide services in field and garrison locations when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

This position may be located in a wide variety of environments, from conventional indoor office workspaces to project worksites with harsh working and living conditions typical of a contingency environment. The role requires the basic skills and physical ability necessary to perform assigned job functions.

Basic Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and seven
(7) years to ten (10) years related experience. Requires computer skills and proficiency using email,
Microsoft Office or specialized applications as necessary to perform assigned job functions.

Other Job Requirements

Candidate must possess TB Med 530 – Tri Service Food Code or ServSafe Manager Certification at time of hire and maintain TB Med 530 – Tri Service Food Code or ServSafe Manager Certification for the duration of employment.
• Military Regulations: Extensive knowledge of Military (Tri-Service Food Code/TB Med 530) regulations and related policies governing food storage, food preparation, serving, and food service sanitation.
• Military Publications: Knowledge of AR 30-22, DA PAM 30-22, TM 4-41.11, TM 4-41.12, DoD 1338.10-M, and ATP 4-41.
• Software Proficiency: Experience using AFMIS and STORES applications and the ability to obtain an account.
• Language Skills: Ability to read, write, understand, and speak clearly in English at an intermediate level, and effectively communicate instructions to others.
• Medical Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain annual food service medical clearance.
• Driver’s License: Must have a valid State Driver’s License.
• Background Check: Ability to pass a Military Background Check for access to military installations.
• Work Authorization: Authorization to work in the U.S.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency using email, Microsoft Office, or specialized applications necessary to perform assigned job functions.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior Military and/or Contingency Operations experience
• Culinary certification or degree.
• Advanced education in the Food Services field.
• Experience working on LOGCAP or other similar Contingency Contracts (e.g., AFCAP, GCS-MAC, CNG&T).
