Background

The Ministry of Finance – North East State seeks a qualified, results-oriented Budget Performance Officer to monitor, analyze, and evaluate government budget execution, ensuring alignment with fiscal policies and development priorities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Monitor implementation of annual and supplementary budgets across government entities.
Review expenditure performance reports and ensure compliance with approved allocations.
Analyze budget variances and prepare performance evaluation reports.
Assist in developing KPIs for tracking government spending efficiency.
Coordinate with line ministries and public entities to gather financial data.
Support budget revisions and mid-year expenditure reviews.
Provide technical advice to improve budget execution and reporting.
Prepare quarterly and annual budget performance reports for the Director of Budget.
Stay updated on public financial management reforms and best practices.

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field.
Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in budget planning, analysis, or public financial management.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and financial management systems.
Excellent communication, report-writing, and presentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines.
